November 2010 : Hoboken Artists Studio TourMood Book› The Making of Mood BookABOUT: I displayed a large handmade book of my macro- and micro-photographic prints. The book measured approximately 30x45" closed, and about 5' wide when opened. Visitors were encouraged to leaf through the 23-page book journey, and explore the tiny details of objects which are typically 228 times smaller in reality than they were as presented in the large book. I was on hand to answer questions (of which there were many!) and tell the story of what the images were, and how they were captured. Visitor comments in the guestbook included: "Breathtaking!" "Intense and vivid!" and "Beautiful!! Outstanding!!" |
July 2010 - Present : The Taco Truck restaurant installationmicrotaco› the full microtaco gallery onlineABOUT: My work was chosen for a permanent display at The Taco Truck restaurant in Hoboken, NJ. I was given a set of 35 food ingredients to shoot for macro and microphotos, the very same ingredients TTT uses to prepare their taco products. Ten of the resulting photos were chosen to hang in the actual restaurant, with others available for future locations. Several of the ingredients which I found most fascinating were also the ones I found least interesting at normal size. So seeing these fairly normal things at high magnification became a really pleasant surprise. The oregano is a good example of this. It's full of flowers! The online microtaco gallery was featured in GOOD in March 2011. Comments about the photos have included: "Stunning," "Incredible," "Loving this series ...especially beautiful," and "jaw-dropping." |
December 2009 - Present : The String Theory installationIce› Several images of the String Theory installation are available in this photosetABOUT: The String Theory chose two of my ice photos to install in their New York offices. I created and mounted two 60x90" photos which offset their industrial office perfectly. |
October 2009 : Hoboken Artists Studio TourTiny Lab› Photos from Tiny LabABOUT: I displayed 13 large macro- and micro-photos for visitors to view. Images were output on archival Fujichrome photo paper at 30x45." I also setup two cameras fitted with high-powered lenses and a variety of small everyday objects for visitors to explore in exactly the same way I did in order to shoot them and create my art. Additionally, I photographed small personal objects for visitors and sent them the resulting macro- and micro-photos after the show. Kids and adults were fascinated by the magical transformation of their everyday objects into art before their eyes. Objects shot at the show included an old cough drop, jewelry, a half-eaten twizzler, a dollar, some coins, and other mundane objects. Visitor comments in the guestbook and blog reviews included: "Fabulous!" "Excellent and Surprising!" "...a real feast for the eyes," and "incredibly lush... it's amazing to see how much detail and variation exist on things like tiny coriander seeds and thyme leaves." |
